This test series examines Force10’s Tolly Group test claim that the TeraScale E600/E1200 Series supports up to 500 OSPF Neighbors. The EANTC test results show a much lower OSPF peers number.  The same test is also performed on the Cisco Catalyst 6500 switch and the results are compared.

OSPF Route Scalability and Stability Tests

This test series compares OSPF route scalability and stability between the Catalyst 6500 and the Force10 E600/E1200 TeraScale. (The test was capped at 50,000 routes)

OSPF Route Flap and RIB/FIB/CAM Exercise Test

This route-flap test exercises the switch’s ability to rapidly respond to route-flaps. The test is designed to exercise the route table (RIB) longest-prefix-match algorithm, RIB/Forwarding Information Base(FIB)/Content Addressable Memory(CAM) read/write functionality and RIB/FIB/CAM synchronization.
