LAN Analysis for the LDS Brandenburg
Our customer
Brandenburg's centre for data processing and statistics (LDS) reports to the State Ministry of the Interior and is the centre of computer technology and statistics of the Land administration of Brandenburg. LDS provides IT-counselling and support for all regional government agencies and departments as well as the various levels of local authorities.
Project aims
The remit of EANTC was to carry out measurements to analyse errors in selected LAN segments. The aim was to identify potential causes for non-determinist performance bottle-necks.
Description of the unique network
The LDS operates a complex network with over 5000 clients. The predominant protocol is TCP/IP. The measurements focused on Internet access with DMZ (Demilitarised Zone), firewall and load-balancers. These are represented in the following illustration.
Description of the test scenario and EANTC's mission
Load and protocol analyses were carried out at various network nodes. Correlations between the individual results could then be used to narrow down possible causes of the performance bottle-necks that were occurring. As such, LDS was able to examine these more closely.
